Development of a multi-channel digitizer for geophysical measurements
Project: | Development of a non-magnetic digitizer LEA D2 for mobile, ultra-light geophysical measuring systems |
Funding: | Zentrales Innovationsprogramm Mittelstand (ZIM) des Bundesministeriums für Wirtschaft und Technologie ( BMWi) |
Objective: | Optimisation of geophysical prospection techniques in archaeological research, enhancement of efficiency and spherical resolution of geophysical measurements |

First external user of the new digitizer is the LBI for Archaeological Prospection and Virtual Archaeology in Vienna, founded in 2010. Extense geomagnetic prospection work applying multic-channel fluxgate-arrays with the digitizer LEA D2 resulted in the discovery of an unknown neolithic Henge monument in the surroundings of Stonehenge. Further applications using motor vehicles were undertaken within a reasearch project in collaboration of LBI and RGZM Mainz in 2011. |
